LINCOLN PARK

Bound by North Avenue, Diversey Parkway, the Kennedy Expressway and Lake Michigan, Lincoln Park is a wonderfully diverse mix of historic homes, Victorian three-flats, and traditional and contemporary developments. The area is known for its greatest natural resource, Lincoln Park, which is home to acres of playing fields, bike and jogging paths, beaches, lagoons, a boat harbor, golf course and the famed Lincoln Park Zoo. The neighborhood is desirable for many reasons, not the least of which is its great theaters, restaurants and museums, including The Chicago History Museum and The Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. The area is also home to an array of wonderful public, private and parochial schools. Convenience is one reason so many people want to live in the Lincoln Park area. Many transportation options exist, including the Lincoln Park CTA bus routes that run on most major neighborhood streets.

The Old Town Triangle area is within Lincoln Park proper and was designated a Chicago landmark district in 1977 and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Old Town is the home of the famed Second City comedy troupe. It is an affluent and historic neighborhood whose many streets and alleys predate the Great Chicago Fire.

Nearby DePaul is in the DePaul University neighborhood where more than 15,000 students attend classes on the DePaul’s downtown and Lincoln Park campuses. It is the quintessential small university town setting with coffeehouses, cafes, taverns and bookstores. The “EL” train tracks remind us that the community is near the heart of a major, metropolitan city.
