STREETERVILLE
Located within the Magnificent Mile district, this area is one of Chicago’s most desirable and highly sought after neighborhoods. It began as a shantytown in 1889 when a squatter, George Wellington Streeter, beached his boat on a sandbar where the 100-story Hancock center stands today. It is bound by the river on the south, the Magnificent Mile on the west, and Lake Michigan on the north and east. Navy Pier, one of Chicago’s top attractions, is located in Streeterville and features shops, restaurants, the Chicago Shakespeare Theater, the famous Ferris wheel and the old-fashioned carousel. The neighborhood includes some of Chicago’s tallest skyscrapers as well as upscale boutiques, hotels, fine dining, universities, medical facilities and other cultural venues.
